Rabat: outfitting an ambulatory surgery operating room with MediUnit

The context: moving from on-call to a regular programme

The client, a 35-bed private clinic in Rabat-Agdal, used its OR only for emergency cases (1–2 surgeries per week). Medical leadership decided to open a 5-day ambulatory surgery programme: ENT, surgical dermatology, hand surgery, low-impact urology. This required a full equipment upgrade and ANRP/ISO 13485 compliance.

Equipment delivered and installed

MediUnit coordinated 7 vendors (4 manufacturers + 3 local subcontractors for medical gases, fluids, and electricity) over 21 days.

Total budget and financing

Total investment: 685,000 MAD excl. VAT, with 60% heavy equipment, 25% medical gases and fluids, 15% initial consumables + training. The clinic financed via 60-month medical leasing (monthly ~14,200 MAD excl. VAT) through a Moroccan bank and a specialized leasing partner. MediUnit aligned delivery to fund release.

6-month results

At 6 months, the OR was running 12 ambulatory cases per week on average. Occupancy went from 8% (pre-fit-out) to 67%. The clinic repaid 22% of capital over the same period thanks to ambulatory flow. Zero cases postponed for equipment breakdown (quarterly preventive maintenance contracts by MediUnit caught 2 minor anomalies before they affected the programme).
