Passed through the cervix into the uterine cavity, it measures uterine depth and shows its orientation (anteverted or retroverted), for example before IUD insertion or intrauterine procedures. The blunt tip reduces the risk of perforation. Before each use the instrument must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised according to the facility's protocols, and checked visually for condition and correct function.
