The price of an automated external defibrillator (AED) in Morocco typically ranges from 12,500 MAD excl. VAT (for basic IPAD SP1 models) to over 28,000 MAD excl. VAT (for advanced ZOLL AED Plus or Philips HeartStart models). Replacement consumables like electrode pads and batteries range between 900 and 3,000 MAD excl. VAT.

A fully automatic defibrillator (AED) analyzes the patient's heart rhythm and automatically delivers the electric shock if required, after sounding a clear countdown warning. A semi-automatic defibrillator (SAD) performs the same analysis but prompts the user to manually press a flashing orange button to deliver the shock. For public areas or corporate offices, fully automatic models are generally preferred to minimize user hesitation under stress.

Modern AEDs perform automated daily or weekly self-tests of their circuitry and battery charge, showing a green checkmark or status indicator. Maintenance involves checking this visual indicator and planning the replacement of consumables: electrode pads (valid for 2-3 years) and batteries (valid for 4-5 years).
